Honeymoon Bay Real Estate
Found 10 kilometers west of the town of Lake Cowichan, Honeymoon Bay offers tranquil living right on the lakefront. Properties on the Honeymoon Bay real estate market include small, single-storey cottages in the heart of the community, as well as larger, more luxurious lake homes. With private water access, the latter are quite desirable to own, and are a popular choice for a vacation or second home.
Beyond Cowichan Lake, Honeymoon Bay offers scenic beauty, and homes for sale are located on private lots or on quiet streets—often no through roads. Tall trees provide a boundary between you and your neighbours, and many of the houses for sale have been updated recently. Of course, there are also chances to own vacant land to build the custom home of your dreams.
Honeymoon Bay Lifestyle
Although Honeymoon Bay is small in size, it has a lot of heart. The residents of this lakefront community enjoy the area for its tranquil atmosphere, but also for the friendly neighbours and community spirit. Honeymoon Bay Community Hall offers various services and hosts events (such as movie nights) periodically. There is also a tennis court and a baseball diamond for resident use.
Primarily residential, the street that runs through Honeymoon Bay is South Shore Road, which is where the community's shops and stores are located. The rest of the area is a mix of residential streets and undeveloped land. This road also connects Honeymoon Bay to Lake Cowichan in the east, as well as the west end of the lake. Honeymoon Bay has a small cafe, a volunteer fire station, two RV parks, a general store, a community garden, and a beach.
Top Honeymoon Bay Highlights & Amenities
As mentioned above, Honeymoon Bay is a small, but much-beloved community. While the stores in this area offer the basic necessities, residents do have to travel about 10 to 15 minutes to the neighbouring community of Lake Cowichan for more extensive options. This lake town offers larger chain stores and restaurants, as well as schools, parks, community amenities (such as the library and rec centre), and various other points of interest.
Of course, for the lake itself, Honeymoon Bay residents do not have to go far. The community has two lakefront parks, Central Park (which has a small beach and swimming area) and Lily Beach Park (which features a forested trail and another swimming area). March Meadows Golf Club is located right next door, a public course that is notably well-kept and affordably priced.
Outdoor recreation, such as camping, boating, and hiking, are also popular activities for Honeymoon Bay residents and vacationers. Gordon Bay Provincial Park is located west of Honeymoon Bay, and offers a fantastic camping experience, although there are numerous campsites around the lake. Robertson River Falls and Cowichan River Provincial Park also make for excellent day trips from Honeymoon Bay.
